   One way Bud and Buddy are similar is that they are both seperated by their parents, Bud in a foster home, and Buddy with the elves ( untill he meets his dad). They are diffrent in alot of ways- Physical appreance, Bud is african american and Buddy is white, Buddy is more open and happy, where Bud is more inclosed and sad. They are both very creative and want to be with their family. The movie is different from the book because i the movie Elf, it is in present day time, where Bud, Not Buddy is in the great Depression. They are the same because they both have a memory or some kind of prop to remind the of their family/ home. Bud and his memories of his mom and paper about his dad, and Buddy with his snow globe that says New York.

   Didn’t Bud and Buddy both belong to an orphanage at one time? I believe Buddy also has that picture of his real mom that Papa Elf gives him, doesn’t he?

   The book Bud, not Buddy and the movie Elf both have to do with a boy trying to find their dad. Bud and Buddy both did not have their mom; Bud knew his mom before she died but Buddy never met his mom before she left. Another thing that Bud and Buddy had in common was that they had both been with a foster family, also both boys had clues to find their fathers. Something that is different about them was that Bud knew that he had a mom and assumed that the man on the flyer was his dad, but Buddy did not know that he had a dad or used to have a mom until Papa elf told him.

   I think Bud and Buddy are similar because they go through the same hardships, like they both are missing there parents( for a while). One thing different is Bud not Buddy is realistic and Elf is not. They also both want to find their dad.

Bud and Buddy both lived with someone other than their parents, Bud in orphanage and Buddy with the elves.Buddy has lived a more sheltered life and he has been protected by the elves. Bud on the other hand hand has seen so much pain and suffering, being bounced around to different orphanages, losing his parents, and he’s even growing up in the Great Depression. Jeremiah, do you think Bud’s life will get better or worse as the story progresses?

   Mr. Hammonds- Yes, in Bud Not Buddy, Bud has a flyer from his dad’s band, and in the movie elf Buddy has a picture of his mom when she was younger. Do you think that both boys will cherish those pictures forever or grow up and forget about them?

   Bud, Not Buddy and Elf can be different and simular stories. It depends which way you look at it. They are simular because they don’t live with either of their parents. Bud and Buddy are not simular because Bud lives in a foster home and homes. But Buddy lives with Elves and Santa. Also their different because Bud is black and Buddy is white.

    Mr. Hammonds: Oops. I forgot about that part in Elf. But another thing different about Bud and Buddy is that Bud was not really less loved- but people didn’t give him as much attention and affection as they do Buddy. Buddy’s elf dad loves him alot, just like Bud’smom used to.

    Mellisa, as a father, and having a father who is growing older, I KNOW the picture of Bud’s father will last with him for years. I also believe that Buddy will cherrish that picture of his mother. I don’t remember what happened to her. I would have to see the movie again, but perhaps he will go to find her now. IDK. But pictures will always be special.

    Do any of you have pictures of friends or family that are dear to you?

    Mr. Hammonds,yes I do have some pictures of my half sister Alisha who I have not seen for 11 years, and some pictures of my mother and father who I no longer live with. These pictures are special to me because I don’t get to see these people anymore. Are there people in your family that you no longer see or have passed away that you have no pictures or items to remember them by? If so how does it make you feel?

    both bud and buddy came from places without a family and felt different and left out. they both went to find thier family and both have hardships on the way thier.they are different because bud did not even have a good adopted family but buddy had a happy family and loved them already. bud did know he didnt have a family and had and things got so bad that he wanted to leave to find his real family. buddy did not know that he was not with his real family,and he didnt want to get away from his life to get another one he just wanted to have a complete whole family with people on both sides of his family.

They both had people to help them out, and they both will meet their goal. Their differences are Bud is African American. Buddy is Caucasian. Bud’s setting was in the Great Depression and Buddy’s timeline was present day. Buddy was older when he set out on his journey. Bud has a suitcase with artifacts in it, and Buddy has a snow globe that says, “New York.”

    i think that elf and bud not buddy are the sme in some ways and differnt in some ways as well like they are alike in the way that are orphans except that buds mom died and buddy was an orphan from the begaining and bud went to an orphanage as were buddy was at an orphanage and went to live with his foster home as to were bud had to escape his mean foster family and now bud is looking for his father just like buddy.
