   I think Bud doesn’t cry because he has been through a lot, like his mom died and then he had to go to a foster home. I cry when I get hurt and when something sad or bad happens to me, my family, or my friends. I can not live without crying because it helps me feel better when I cry.

   i am the complete opposite of bud when it comes to crying. when bud is sad his tears never come, but mine flood down my face.

The only thing was, it was like 10 years later when I actually had emotion about this. I think this happened because I was too young, like Bud is, to understand the depth of his emotion and sadness. When I grew older, I was able to fully understand and grasp the emotional state of my grandfather passing. Do you think he will also feel this way when he gets older?

   I think that the reason buddy dosn’t cry is besause of all the bad things that have happen to him. Maybe if he crys he thinks of his dad not coming home. Or when he crys he thinks of his mother’s death. Or another reason he does not cry is that he is so used to bad things, tears just dont come any more. What makes me cry is thinking of poeple who are less fortunate than I am. I sort of compare to bud. I do not cry if I get hurt ,but i do cry (like I said in the other sentence).

   Mr. Hammonds-One time I cried was when my grandpa passed away. We had a bond that could never be broken. Not only was he my grandfather, but a good teacher and a great friend. I think that later in life Bud will fully undrstand his emotions and cry.

   I also think Bud doesn’t cry anymore because well, he has been through so much that he is numb- he has just had enough with all that has gone on his life so he is pretty much all cryed out. I agree with Mr. Hammonds and Melissa, he will probably get hurt deeper the older he gets when he relizes how much he has lost. What makes me cry is very simialr to everyone elses, when bad things happen and the loss of friends and family. I don’t think i will ever be all cryed out because, like Emily, it feels good to cry and let it all out. On the other hand, i have never been through as much as Bud has. Do you think Bud will cry anymore when he is this age Melissa, further on in the book?

   Mr.Hammonds, I usually cry when someone very close to me dies or when I feel very sorry for someone. I think me and Bud are alike in some ways when it comes to emotions. EX. Both my grandmothers died and I still become very sad from time to time, just like Bud and his mom.

    Jeremiah, I have had a great sadness, and as a parent, I will always have fear of losing a child or family member. Those kinds of things would stick with me for ever. Really, the previous response I gave to Melissa is the great sadness I faced. Unfortunately, I will probably face more as I get older.

    Melissa, if I were unable to cry then I would feel a lot of sadness was inside of me trying to get out. Crying helps me feel better and helps me get rid of sadness.

    Madison- I think Bud will cry later in the book. I think Bud is to young to realize what he has lost. Later in life when he has a deeper understanding of his emotions he will probably cry.

    I don’t think Bud cries because he has gone to a lot of different homes and nothing is going to change. Also he probably understands that their are a lot of other things happening during the Great Depression. I think Mr. Hammonds was right because the older Bud gets the more he will understand that he will want to see his parents, but he will not be able to. There are a few things that make me cry. Whenever I get hurt, if I am mad, or if I do something bad. I could not compare to Bud because I could not be without my parents for very long. If I did not see my parents for a long time then I would have to cry because it is okay to show your feelings sometimes and that they are what keep me happy all the time. Unlike Bud, that does not cry at all.

    I cry about alot of stuff like some of my family members have recently died and i cryed about that. But when it comes to me comparing to Bud he has been threw alot more than i have so i cant really say anything to compare the 2 of us. When it says that Bud dosnt cry any more I it means that he has cryed so much that he dosnt have any tears left.

    Stephanie, if I had endired as much pain as Bud I would not only feal worthless and pityful to myelf, I would be devasted. It would be so terrible if I was homeless and didn’t have a dad and my mom was dean. It would be unbearable. Bud hides his sad feelings most of the time to cover up the sorrow feelings. I couldn’t imagine how Bud would feel, and if that were me I would never be able to be happy or smile. Have you ever been anywhere close to this much pain?

I cryed so much about that reason that when it come to my mind i got sad,but didn’t cry.I cry though.I don’t relate to Bud in the things he has been through though and I cry.
    Does Bud cry,but just not for the reason of his mom passing away?

    i think that bud does not cry anymore bc he has been through so many things and expiences that he is used to bad things happening so they are not as sad as they used to do.i cry when i am mad at someone and just need to get everything out or just when i get hurt very badly. i think i would cry when one of my familie members die but i do not know bc i have never expierenced anything like that.i dont think that i compare to bud that much at all bc hes been through so many hardships and i ahve not been through many at all. he doesnt cry any more,but i will probably cry in the future.

I guess sometimes my feelings just get bottled up inside of me and that is my way of letting them out. Do you ever feel like something that usually makes you cry is going on and you just can’t find it in yourself to cry?

    I cry when i am mad, sad, or injured . I also cry when I am happy(Tears of Joy).
